International Communist Seminar
‘Economic Crises and Possibility of a Major World Crisis’ Brussels, 2-4 May 2002
27-06-2002
The last days, the situation has abruptly worsened on the Korean peninsula, because of the hostile policy of the Bush administration against the DPR of Korea, who is aspiring to peace.
It is well known that the bellicose Bush administration has already put the DPR of Korea on its "Axis of Evil" list and has revealed that it constitutes a nuclear target. The United States shows that its objective is to stifle by force a sovereign and peace-loving state.
This attitude causes deep concern among the progressive and peace-loving people of the whole world.
Today, the one who is truly responsible for the threat of war on the Korean peninsula is not the DPR of Korea, but the United States.
First of all, they have deployed thousands of nuclear arms and tens of thousands of troops in South Korea. They also continuously organize large-scale war exercises with their South Korean puppets, targeting the North, and bringing the situation on the Korean peninsula close to war.
We denounce the hostile policy of the Bush administration against the DPR of Korea, aimed at stifling it by force, by describing it as a member of the "Axis of Evil". We demand that the problem of the reunification of the Korean peninsula must be solved in independence and peace, in accordance with the will of the Korean nation, based on the spirit of the joint North-South Declaration of June 15, 2001.
To assure a lasting peace on the Korean peninsula, we demand the withdrawal of nuclear weapons and US troops deployed in South Korea, and that US ceases to push the war-mongering forces of South Korea to confrontation with the DPR of Korea.
